Grave of Christ #

Unsigned oil on board 34 x 24cm excl.frame; 59 x 45.5 x 2cm incl.frame. accompanied by letter of provenance signed by Johannes Jacobus Theron and David Francois Hugo Naudé and dated 28 November 1941 (Strauss & Co. lot 207, 25 November 2024). Roets has a Graf van Christus with different measurements: 48 x 30cm (Roets, p.74 & p.181 App.B no.43).

Signed “Naudé” lower right above bridge arch, oil on board 29 x 39.5cm excl.frame. Provenance: Mr & Mrs ‘Cope’ Krone and thence by descent (Strauss & Co. lot 480, 6 February 2012, Cape Town and Kunskamer Exhibition cat.no.22).
